Adviser of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences.


He was born on April 22, 1976 in Grozny, the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (RSFSR).


He graduated from the Minsk Suvorov Military School with a silver medal (1993), the Kaliningrad Higher Naval School with honors (1998), adjuncture at the Baltic Naval Institute named after Admiral F.F. Ushakov (2005),


He passed retraining and advanced training at the:

  • Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces in the specialty of command-staff operational-strategic (2009),
  • Moscow Institute of Open Education under the Program of Training of Members of the Subject Commission for the GIA on History (2017),
  • Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation "under the program" State and municipal management "with the qualification" Specialist in the field of state and municipal management " (2018).


The service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation was held in command and operational positions in units and headquarters of the Baltic Fleet (1998-2002); editor (2005), senior editor (2005-2007), executive secretary of the editorial board of the Military-Historical Journal (2007-2008).


Since 2008, the Institute of Military History of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (since 2010 - the Research Institute (Military History) of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation): deputy head of the research department (general problems and methodology of military history, 2008-2009) , deputy chief of the Military Encyclopaedic Administration - head of the department (military history and military figures) (2009-2013); the teacher of the department (military art) of the Higher Technical School of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (2013); from September 2013 to May 2016 - head of the research department (domestic military history since the beginning of the Second World War).


Prominent Russian scientists worked in leading scientific teams: Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences G.A. Kumanev, M.A. Gareev, S.A. Tyushkevich, I.S. Danilenko, O.A. Belkov, V.V. Izonov, N.F. Kovalevsky, M.S. Monakov, V.P. Plyaskin.


In July 2016, he was prematurely dismissed from military service in reserve in connection with organizational and staff arrangements.

Advisor to the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences, corresponding member of the Academy of Military History, member of the Society for the Study of the History of Russian Special Services, professor at the Academy of Military Sciences, full member of the European Academy of Natural Sciences, Expert of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission for History Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation  (2016-2018).

Kiknadze V.
