Introduction. European migration crisis 2015-2018 acutely raised the issue of migration as a means of spreading terrorist activity from the territory of «bankrupt states» to the territory of developed states. The Russian Federation, being a part of the world community, a migration attractive state and bordering on states that are the direct target of terrorist groups, did not stay aside from this trend.
Methods. On the basis of a comprehensive approach, the author analyzes the events that led to the complication of the migration situation in European countries. The results obtained by extrapolation are used to study and interpret migration problems in the Russian Federation.
Conclusion. According to the results of the study, the author concludes that many of the consequences of the European migration crisis are also relevant for our country. However, unlike in Europe, Russia found itself in a unique situation in which migrations can be a factor in preserving national security, and not only a means of its destruction.
